MOTIVATIONAL THEORIES

1. Maslow’s Need Hierarchy Theory.(Abraham Maslow)

Maslow’s Need hierarchy Theory. Need or the desire is a very important element in motivation because the employees get motivated only for their needs and if the needs are fulfilled completely then it is not possible to motivate the employees. The good thing of these theories are these are mostly same .You can search in any book or the sites but it is same ,may the description of point expressed in different manner .

--Maslow has given this theory of motivation as follows:

1 stage-Physiological Needs

2 stage-Safety and Security Needs

3 stage-Social Needs

4 stage-Esteem needs

5 stage-Self actualization

1 stage-Physiological Needs

These needs are the basic requirements of human or for human .These needs are those which is really important and necessary for the survival of a human life. The employees work in an organisation to fullfill their basic requirement .These needs can be satisfied when the monetary incentives are offered by the employer.
for eg. Roti(food),kapra(clothing),makan(shelter).

2 stage-Safety and Security Needs

when the basic needs of a human is fullfilled than he/she think for safety and security needs and they start thinking for future .they want to secure their future.Under safety and security there are two categories:
1.physical security.
    which means safety fromillness,accident,fire,etc
2.Economic security. which means having sufficient funds to meet the future Physiology needs had to come out from any problems .

3 stage-Social Needs

Social needs are also known as belonging needs.it means the need for love, affection, companionship, friendship, etc.Once the people satisfy their upper needs then they think for social needs.in an organisations the manager give tasks in team to fullfill social needs.THey arrange formal and informal get-togethers and many things.
In colleges they  make team for presentations.

4 stage-Esteem needs

These needs are related to the respect and recognition. When the above three needs are satisfied or fullfilled then they demanding respects from others ."But for respect you should respect to others".This need is more common in higher level employees. These needs can be satisfied through non monetary incentives.

5 stage-Self actualization

When the all 4 needs are fullfilled and satisfied fully. This need refers to realising or reaching to the aim and to the last stage of your life when you have everything that you wanted.Once the employee becomes what they wants to become it means satisfaction of his actualisation need.Every time it is not necessary that you achieve this stage whwn you get every thing.

for eg.when a soldier faces the bullet of enemy he seems to ralise the self actualisation.
